My gallery in this website is a personal selection of images taken over several years – a personal walk down memory lane. It includes images of clients, friends and even my own children and grandchildren, also memories of special times, events and places. Some of these images are little more than favourite snapshots, but others were taken more formally, using controlled lighting. I make no distinction, and always use my skills to capture the personality of the subject.
I have been interested in photography for most of my life, but started to take it seriously around 35 years ago. Some of my early karting photos won awards, and I started selling prints. My interest developed further when I studied photography at City & Guilds, learning dark room and studio techniques. I switched from film to digital around 25 years ago, and I have fully embraced the freedom of this medium. Having trained with some of the best portrait photographers in the country, including Annabel Williams, John Denton and Mark Cleghorn, I turned semi-professional, specialising in portrait photography and weddings. However, my particular interest was in photographing children, which I found rewarding taking candid photographs whilst allowing them freedom to play.
I stopped undertaking professional assignments around 11 years ago, when personal commitments had to take priority over my career. Between 2015 and 2020 I was a full time carer, which brought a completely different set of challenges and rewards. Between 2020 and 2024 I picked up my camera again, taking photos of Rugby League at Dewsbury Rams and a few Crossfit competitions. Unfortunately I suffered a serious shoulder injury in 2024, such that I can no longer hold a camera for any period of time. I still take photos for enjoyment, but I am now fully retired from professional photography.
I live in rural Lincolnshire with my retired husband. We enjoy walking in the quiet countryside and spending time with our grandchildren. Of course, my camera comes with me, even if I have to ask my husband to carry it for me.
